Artist in Your Closet
There's a painter in your closet
Holding paintbrush tight;
You'd. better let him out
If you like your T-shirts white
There's a writer in your closet
And one day you'll see
A novel written on the walls
Behind the robe and dungarees
There's a singer in your closet
So open up the door
Or your guests may wonder
What that muffled sound is for.
There's a poet in your closet
Looking for a rhyme
You'd better let him out;
He'll have a better time.
There's a sculptor in your closet
Did you need that baseball bat?
He may carve it in a statue
And your baseball game go flat.
There's a dancer in your closet
With no room for twirls and jumps
And if he bangs another wall
He'll say, "Ouch!" from all the bumps.
There's a musician in your closest
And he's getting rather bored
Your shoestrings tied to hangers
Give him no good chords.
There's an actor in your closet
And he's costumed in your clothes
He's lacking in an audience
For whom to smile and pose
There's an artist in your closet
Open up, look in and see
Free him to make a better world
And life for you and me.
